Travel Seoul During Autumn

This is a throwback post of our visit to Seoul. If you are planning for your trip, this post gives you some ideas. During the last autumn, Bey and I went to Seoul for 9 days 8 nights. (6th Nov - 14th Nov 2016) We only visited Seoul, and it was more than what we expect. There are so many spots to explore. We planned to have a lazy relaxing trip; therefore, we stayed at the same hostel for 8 nights;  to save all the trouble of moving.

The first thing we did upon our arrival at the airport was to get our Wifi device. We had pre-booked the device earlier through this website Wide Mobile. Wide Mobile has very good service as their staffs speak English and explain very well about the details. The great thing is the wifi network speed is FAST and it can connect up to 5 devices simultaneously. Honestly, we can't survive without this wifi device!

Wide Mobile Roaming Center , 1st floor of Incheon Airport
(pick up & return your device here)
The next thing is to purchase our transportation card Tmoney. (i just realized that I don't have any photo of my tmoney; it is a limited addition of LINE character :'(  Anyway, you can get Tmoney at C& U Convenience Store (1st floor of Incheon Airport). At the same time, we also bought the well- known Banana Milk drink. It's flavorful; just one sip; you will feel the banana fragrance all in your mouth. There are also other flavors: melon & strawberry. Good to grab and go!

We departed from Incheon International Airport to Seoul by bus. We waited at bus stop on the 1st floor of arrival. Our host provided us a direction guide, so we just followed accordingly and doubled check with the ticket office. It took about 1 hour 30 minutes ride to reach our hostel at Dongdaemun.

We booked our hostel through booking.com. We tried to save on our stays, as we knew we were going to spend more on FOOD & shopping.  At the first place, I was struggling on which district to select on our stay. If you have done some research, you will realize that there are so many places to stay. After consulting with some friends that had been to Seoul, it actually doesn't matter on which district to stay but most importantly the convenience of transport. Hence, we selected Hostel Vanilla 1 Dongdaemun as it is within 3 minutes walk from Subway station line 1 & 4.

Let's take a tour at Hostel Vanilla 1 Dongdaemun
We had free breakfast (including milks, juice, breads, jams, instant noodles, hams, eggs, and also citron tea) at this sharing area. I miss citron tea the most! Each room is provided with a mini basket where you can place your items in the refrigerator. We got to cook our own meal too. This cozy area made us feel like home.

To maintain the cleanliness of the place, we were not allow to wear our own shoes in the hostel. We were provided with sandals and kept our shoes in cupboard.

Before entering our room, our host mentioned that Korea's rooms are small and not to compare with  Malaysia's room. I guessed he did not want me to feel disappointed. LOL. Not to deny, it is a small room ! As you can see from the photo above, our luggage filled up the alley space. But, no worries, with this relatively cheap price, we have a great stay ! The hosts are super friendly and helpful too.

Let me tell you, we did not plan ahead of our itinerary. We went spontaneously to places by following the Seoul Official Tourist Guide guidebook. You can get the soft copy here and also get a hard-copy guidebook from the airport   It is very useful. We enjoy the feeling of searching through maps instead of apps. Ya. sound lousy, we got lost some times but it was fun.

Day 1
We had a night stroll at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). We were lucky that there was LED rose garden exhibition going on. The roses lightened up the place; couples everywhere; very romantic. <3

It looked like a bed of stars behind me *****

Day 2
We went to Namsan Park and hiked up to Namsan Tower. Throughout the journey of walking up the stairs, we had a great view of Seoul city, this also saved the cost of entering the observatory deck. If you like nature scenery,  I would highly recommend you to walk up to Namsan Tower ; then,  take the cable car ride for the way back.

Walking up the stairs. Step by step, Namsan tower is nearer to us.

Upon arrival at the Namsan Tower, we were so hungry. We went to N Burger.
The burger is so-so, but the fries are REALLY REALLY GOOD !

Day 3
The main reason we traveled to Seoul was to have our pre-wedding photo shoot. Our first shooting spot was at OLYMPIC Park. Olympic park autumn scenery really mesmerized me. The park is very very big and spacious! If you would like to escape from the town that is packed with tourists, do visit this beautiful park.

The Alone Tree

<3

Next stop, we visited Common Ground to have some casual photo shooting. As I recalled, we need to transit 3 times subway to get to the place. But it is totally worth the effort; the popping blue color of the large containers look trendy. Inside the buildings, there are designer stores and restaurants, there are food truck at the ground area too. See more photos at this post

Day 4
Before sunrise, we were at Bukchon Hanok Village. It s a quiet peaceful village. Beautiful architecture of the wooden houses are great backgrounds of our photos. The photos looked like we were in love in the past century. :)

We walked from Bukchon Village to Gyeongbokgung Palace. I saw a lot of them wearing traditional costume, and later know that the costumes needed to rent before entering the palace. There are no costume rentals in the palace.

Before the sun went down, we managed to take great shots at Haneuel Park, World Cup Stadium. We rode a shuttle up the hill. We were welcomed with a sea of silver grass. The hill was like a maze, we were surrounded by tall silver grass, As the wind blow, the silver grass wave. And the silver grass shine in golden color when the sun set, totally amazed me. We will come back to this place again !

Day 5

We went to university district, visited Yonsei Uni, Ehwa Uni & Sinchon. We strolled around the campus as if we were studying there.  On the way from Ehwa Uni to Yonsei Uni, there is a Sinchon pedistrian-friendly street where there are a lots of cafes and shops for relaxation and shopping.

Yonsei University has beautiful vines growing on the building
What I love about Seoul is that there are a lot of juice bars. I don't drink coffee,
I love juices and there are a lot of mix options here.
At night, we went to Seoul lantern festival at Cheonggyecheon Stream. There are a lot of events going on throughout the year. So, do check on the website

Various designs of lights and lanterns  were all the way at the stream. This little home design is my favorite :)

Day 6
We visited the craft area - Insadong. There are a lot of traditional handicraft stores and tea houses. I regretted that I did not buy any souvenirs at Insadong where items are sold in a comparatively cheaper price.

Insadong street

Ssamzigil is a multi-storey complex with different art and craft stores

In the evening, we went to Hongdae area, it was a happening district with trendy youths hanging around. We went to a newly open entertainment store and won a Rilakkuma back home!! ( actually we spent a lot to win it home, but anyway the excitement matters !LOL )

day 7 & 8 .... to be continue...
Stay tune !

Love,
Yvonne

Wedding Preparation

Happy 2017! It has been a fruitful year of 2016. I had been busy settling down at our new home, preparing on our wedding day, photo shooting with my love one. I am more than excited to welcome my new chapter of life. :) This post is a throwback of my past 10 months wedding preparation. I would like to share my humble experience that might be helpful for some brides to be.

The checklist goes on and on until the wedding day. Here goes..

1. Wedding date
* This is the first thing to do after proposal.
* Share the good news with parents and discuss for the big date !
* I like my dinner reception date  7/1/2017 ; in Mandarin pronunciation,  it sounds similar to  一起一齐 :)

2. Wedding dinner location
* Major dates might be booked 1 year earlier
(get ready with a few choices, you might not be able to get your first choice)
* Personal review of my wedding dinner location: Vistana Hotel Bukit Jambul Penang
- Strategic location in between mainland and island
- Spacious 3 bedrooms apartment for our guests (FOC for mine)
- Serve full 8 course vegetarian meal (Yes, keep in mind not every hotel serve vegetarian meal)
- Spacious ballroom (Give you plenty options for decorations)
- Not to compare hotel food with Chinese restaurant food; but honestly their food is averagely good
FOC 1 table of food tasting & I like their baked barbecued chicken !
- All our guests enjoy the ambiance
- If you are interested, contact  kaijing_tan@ytlhotels.com.my  for quotation

3. Pre-wedding photography
* I am more than happy to have my pre-wedding photo-shoot done with Wooi Loon and Wen Xian
* I get all original photos, 1 photo canvas, slide show, 60 edited photos and 1 photo book
* It was more like travelling with 2 trust-able friends; chatting, laughing, enjoying !
* Don't worry about how to pose, Wooi Loon demonstrated different poses. Hahaha, he is talented!
* Even though it was chilly cold, Wen Xian also made sure we looked fabulous all time.
* If you are figuring what to wear except wedding gown, Tutu skirt can be a good choice, I got my tutu skirt from Bonbon Boutique
-  Custom Carrie Tulle Skirt 57cm-63cm length with ivory color

Love this series  ♥♥♥

4. Bridal gown selecion
* My pre-wedding bridal gown was from Le Parfait Wedding Gallery.
-  FYI,  I was charged RM400 for a few tiny small holes in the hidden layers of  the gown.
- YES, it was ridiculously expensive and we were asked to pay RM800 at the first place.
* Please make sure to check every layer of gown before renting.
(We were not instructed to check every layer, we just checked the outer most layer) A painful experience.
* There are so many different cuttings: mermaid, a line, tutu, sweet heart, high neck.
* Choose what suits you the most and listen to your heart!
* I found my dress after several times of  trying session.
* My actual day bridal gown was from Le Marriage
- It is a smaller bridal gallery with lesser choice, but it owns new gowns with comparatively cheaper price. Le Marriage also provides floral bouquet ; car decoration; wedding dinner decoration services.

My favorite shot  ♥♥♥

5. Actual wedding day
* Photographer Jn Tan is very friendly and tried the best to capture every moments! Pictures speak more than word
* Makeup artist Natalie  has more than 10 years of working experience. You will be amazed with her talent and skill. I felt stunning with the natural make up and perfect hairdo. (puji sendiri)
* Highly recommend SuperBand Entertainment  !! They simply just understand what you like. I have different performers for both dinner nights, and both presents different theme and ambiance. They sing well from English oldies to modern pop songs, and of course a lot of Chinese Classic Songs. You won't be disappointed with their performance.

6. Taobao
* I  bought jimui dress, hengdai bow tie, and decorative items through taobao
* Good quality; good packaging with cheap price, when you ship in bulk, you actually save a lot.
*  2 weeks delivery plan; plan ahead.
* The crown that I am wearing (photo above) is from taobao too.

I printed my wedding invitation cards inner page from Red House Wedding too .

There are a lot of emotional situations during the past few months of planing, I would say thank you THANK YOU so much to my family members for their patience, tolerance and love. It's true that wedding day was not only for both of us, but for everyone who came to celebrate our happiness. I hope that each and everyone of you who had joined us during our big day had a wonderful time. And THANK YOU so much for your help! You know who you are.

Love,
Yvonne

Ring on the Finger

Well.. let me share our sweet moment.
It was 14th March 2016, Monday.
I drove back from work, thinking in mind that there shouldn't be any surprise on White Day. "If there is, then how should I react? Ah.. no way, it should be just a social dinner," I told myself.
I quickly dressed up, sought help from my mum to zip up my dress.
I walked out from the kitchen, and bumped into him, who walked up the stairs with a bouquet of flower.
I stunned and smiled, heart beats faster than before. Yes, I was nervous... and keep smiling... :)
He  pulled out a golden box from his pocket and got down on one knee.
He said "Marry Me."
I didn't have any words but nod my head.
This moment might not be vivid in mind, cause I was over- excited and blanked out.
But
I am very very very grateful that I met him- my spouse, my soul mate, my best friend, my partner, my tutor in my life.

Settle down after a busy day, I look down, the ring takes my breath away. It makes me smile with no reason. The next step of our relationship is poured with love from family members and friends. I am truly grateful.

P.S. I do, I love you, dar

Love,
Yvonne

Summary 2015

Hi guys, it has been a while since I last updated my blog. One of the main reason I didn't blog is that I think that "there is nothing special that I would share!" But when I think twice, there are actually a lot of little things going on in my life. Maybe not all of them are super exciting, but I still like to jot down these memories by words and photos.

I sort out happening things this year:

1. Attend my close friend's wedding
This is my first red boom from a close friend. The jit sin kia gang was super excited on their big day, you can see from all the guys' laughter. And also the tears of joy from the bride. :')

2. See my university buddy once in a year
Just like the old days, we had wings and drinks. And also, steamboat with beer of course. Chit chat non-stop.....we talked about the past and also our brand new future, :)

3. Less shopping for clothes, more eating....
The restaurant that I visited the most often is Sushi Zento Seberang Perai. I don't eat sashimi or any raw dishes but I like Japanese udon noodles, ramen, sushi and this restaurant meets my expectation during every visit. I prefer to sit at the bar area to skip on the long waiting queue. My favorite dish is the ramen in the last photo which is not shown in the menu, but is super yummy and you got to try 2 different flavors in 1 bowl.

4. Topic during gathering: house, insurance, job!
So, here's the sneak preview of our future house...... Please don't ask me when am I getting married, I have no idea. LOL. But, I am grateful with everything I am having now. I got to say getting a house is not an easy task, we make plans, we discuss, we decide things together... I am proud of you dar and I believe everything will be good.

5. Lost in life
Sometimes I get lost in my career, I can't find my passion. I question myself, do I like clinical or community service? Lastly, I decided on community, to educate prevention rather than to treat patients. Then, am I supposed to continue my study or should I continue working to serve the country and complete my bond with JPA? The questions goes on and on, and I am still finding my way..... I believe if there is a will, there is a way, let it be...

On the mean time, the good news is I am promoted, slight increment for my salary, I am not sure is it good to accept the offer but better than nothing right? :) * Let me know if you are interested on Calcium supplement as below. Cheers~

Love,
Yvonne
